Nancy Prowitt is Managing Partner of Alcalde and Fay, a leading Government and Public Affairs Public Consultancy in the Washington DC Metropolitan area and has been with the firm for over 20 years, providing skilled public affairs counsel in diverse issue areas – transportation, maritime, infrastructure, taxes, defense and environmental – to a wide range of clients. Her client work spans appropriations, authorizations and regulatory issues.
Ms. Prowitt's in-depth knowledge of the Congressional process, combined with her nationwide contacts at both the regional and local levels, gives her a unique perspective in the formulation, communication and implementation of legislative strategies and initiatives. Because of her experience on Capitol Hill working for a member of Congress from Virginia on the Appropriations Committee she has taken the lead on many of the Virginia public client accounts.
Ms. Prowitt also has an extensive background in "grassroots" communications campaigns and for many years managed campaigns for coalition and corporate clients. For seven years, she served as the Executive Director of the Alliance for Clean Energy (ACE), a coalition of low sulfur coal producing and transporting companies formed to represent the industry's position on acid rain control legislation. Ms. Prowitt designed and supervised grassroots public education and information campaigns in 45 states on behalf of ACE. As a result of experience gained through numerous appearances and her personal contacts with print, radio and television media, Ms. Prowitt has also been called upon to act as a media spokesperson for Alcalde & Fay clients.
Before joining Alcalde & Fay, Ms. Prowitt served as a legislative assistant to a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee from Virginia, and served as Midwest Regional Communications Manager for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
A native of Chicago, Ms. Prowitt holds a B.A. degree from DePauw University in Indiana. She has served on the board of directors of the Congressional Award Foundation, Fairfax Stars Youth Basketball Association, and is an active member of the Arlington Women’s Civic Alliance.
